The Baa Atoll Conservation Fund (BACF) Board held a meeting on 3 September 2025, attended by 11 participants representing 8 stakeholder organisations.

During the meeting, the Board reviewed the existing Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve partnership arrangements and related fee structures. Following discussions, the Board approved putting the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve partnerships with dive schools, safari vessels and guest houses on hold.

The Board also decided that BACF would develop and circulate a paper on the proposed new Biosphere Reserve fee structure to all relevant stakeholders for consideration and further discussion.

The decisions form part of BACF’s ongoing efforts to review and strengthen the management and financial mechanisms supporting the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve, while ensuring that stakeholder engagement remains an integral part of the process.
