The Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve hereby informs the general public that, in accordance with the Hanifaru Management Regulation, the Hanifaru Marine Protected Area, including access to Hanifaru Island, will be closed on 26 May 2026 in observance of Eid al-Alhaa (Bodu Eid).

Furthermore, we wish to inform the public that the administrative operations of the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve Office will remain closed from 24 to 30 May 2026 onwards during the Eid holiday period.

In this regard, all parties are advised to make the necessary arrangements in advance for the purchase and processing of Access Permits and any other permits required for entry into protected areas prior to the commencement of the holiday closure.

Please note that while the administrative office will remain closed during the holiday period, Rangers of the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve will continue to remain onsite and operational throughout the holidays to ensure monitoring, management, and enforcement activities within the protected areas.

All visitors, tour operators, and stakeholders are kindly requested to take note of this closure and make their arrangements accordingly.
